Wine, wine, wine! It’s everywhere in Piedmont. And there are numerous vineyards and Enotecas, where you can see the production of wine and buy the characteristic wines of the region.

For 10 days in September, the national wine exhibition Douja d’Or is held in Asti. The festival offers visitors the possibility to try a wide range of high quality, prize-winning wines from all over Italy – as well as from the Piedmont region. Wines such as Barbera, Moscato, Barolo and Asti Spumante are available for sampling. The event also offers a large variety of seminars, exhibitions and a large selection of food stalls. Many participants wear costumes representing historic peasant life and you will find exhibitions of historic tools and equipment, creating a rustique and charming ambience to the festival. Douja d’Or, is an important celebration in the region, and has been called “the truest representation of peasant life.”
