Buzz Lightyears famous catchfrase: “To infinity…. and beyond!” comes to mind once in a while, when we are asked “What happens if you fall off the pool’s infinity edge?” Villa Roccaverano is located at an altitude of almost 600 meters, and the view of the deep and vast Bormida valley is quite overwhelming; and since it does look as if you can fall several hundred meters straight down into the valley from the edge of the pool in most of our pictures, we completely understand the question. But this is of course not the case.
As you can see in the second picture below, there is a small piece of slanted lawn on the other side of the infinity edge, and it is not until the you reach the edge of that lawn that you will plummet to the bottom of the valley. No – I’m kidding of course! The drop is no more than a meter at any point, and after that there is just an ordinary hillside, which continues rather undramatically all the way down to the floor of the valley. There are no vertical cliffs and no lethal drops – just breathtaking views all around.
